A Bit About Paul
|
Paul is a (mostly) acoustic singer-songwriter, who brings his varied life experiences and observations into his “homemade” music and writing. Paul was born and raised in New York on Long Island, but he also traces his roots to small town Iowa, where family members still own and run the family farm. He spent time there most summers until he moved to Alaska.
Traveling to all fifty states and always loving the adventure and excitement of the outdoors, it isn’t surprising that one of Paul's biggest dreams was to move to Alaska. He did just that as a very young man, living there ever since. Growing up, music was always encouraged in Paul's family home. He started with violin in the school orchestra and, as a teen, Paul was given his first acoustic guitar as a Christmas present. He slowly taught himself to play, adding mandolin along the way, and now tinkers with other stringed instruments as they pique his curiosity. After marrying and raising kids of his own, Paul had some time to revisit his musical interests. This resulted in his first album, Palms and Pete’s, recorded at, 907IceFroggie Studios. The impetus for the album was Vernell, Paul's wife and co-owner of 907IceFroggie Studios, contacting Peggy Monaghan at Arctic Siren Productions. Peggy’s patient mentoring and production led to the album coming to life. Over the years, Paul has participated in the Anchorage Folk Festival and other musical gatherings. He may even get to play at a site near you…..who knows? |
